An enormous 'big-gun' yiḏaki from Master Djalu'. Due to the high popularity during the past decade or so, limited number of these special instruments have been created by Djalu's family. These unusual trumpets perhaps fall into a new category of traditional didgeridoos, all have similar appearance and characteristics: long body (over 170cm long, this piece is 181cm!), classic yiḏaki-like tapered shape starts in natural mouthpiece and ends in unusually large bell, thunderous sound and even more thunderous toot. Looking at the length, you would expect a low-key sound, although the drone of this instrument is quite hight: it plays between E and F note. The backpressure is in the lower medium-range, and surprisingly, forcing you to pump high amount of air into the long and spacious chamber. The transition between the drone and toot is easy, and the toot and the long trumpet sound really amazing. Due to the unusual size and the detailed, precise artwork, I recommend this beautiful piece for art/didgeridoo collectors.Key: E-F Length: 181cm Mouthpiece internal diameter: 3.1-3.5cm Available from Yirrkala, NT Australia with worldwide shipping For details and specifications see the 'Additional information' tab below.
