This outstanding yiḏaki offers excellent acoustics and superb playability. Its drone is earthy, warm, and rich across all layers of overtones, while the medium backpressure ensures comfortable breathing and control. Highly responsive to tongue movements, this instrument is ideal for both traditional and contemporary playing styles.
There is a minor repair at the middle section of the instrument – zoom in the photo – that is properly sealed and stable. Let me know if you need more detail. The price of the instrument adjusted accordingly.
The artwork on the instrument depicts dharraŋgi, a freshwater palm that grows along waterways near Blue Mud Bay. This plant, described by Marikuku as “his dreaming,” holds deep spiritual significance for his clan, making this piece not only a musical instrument but also a cultural treasure.
